Psychological status correlates of disease activity and sleep quality in patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis: A case-control study
Background/Purpose: The objective of this study was to compare psychological status and sleep quality between the patients with AS patients and healthy controls, and to discover the correlation between anxiety, depression and sleep disturbances, to evaluate the associated factors of disease specific variables in AS patients and to detect independent factors contributing to psychological variables. Methods: A nationwide face-to-face epidemiological investigation was performed in multiple centers of China. The demographic data , clinical symptoms/signs and psychological assessment data including Zung self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), Zung self-rating depression scale (SDS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire (PSQI) were collected using questionnaires. Mann-Whitney U test and t test was used in independent groups for parametric variables, whereas the Spearman correlation analysis and multiple stepwise regression analysis were used to assess correlation between parametric variables.
